Thank you for reading my first blog of the new year!
If you followed along over the past year, you might remember that the 52 Weeks 1 Difference blog project started in January 2012, when I made a personal commitment to volunteer 52 places over 52 weeks. This project was in response to my growing concern for the world we live in. I don't want to bury my head in the sand and give up hope that goodness still exists.
My blog has allowed me to share my volunteer efforts in the community, as well as highlight the many organizations that are serving on the front lines, feeding our hungry, sheltering our homeless, standing up for our children and making a difference.
I have proven that one person can make a difference, wrapping up 2012 with over 200 hours of volunteer service with 52+ non-profits/community events.
2012 has come and gone. I don't want the impact I have made to disapear with it. So, I have spent the past few weeks thinking about how to carry this project into the new year. Here is what I have come up with...
-Enough about me. Let's talk about you.
-One person can make a difference. Let's try for more.
In other words, I will continue my volunteerism throughout the year. However, what I aiming for this year is to share the voices of our community. I will be highlighting a different non-profit each week, allowing THEM to share their story. I will be incorporating guest bloggers into this year's project. Guests will share details about their organizations, their volunteer opportunities and personal volunteer experiences.
I encourage you to follow along with this blog over the next year. I, also, ask that you speak up. Make comments, ask questions, share your story, help me MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
